The Durango Casino & Resort, an integral part of the entertainment offering in southwest Las Vegas, is going one better and is planning a spacious new building that promises an absolute highlight for family fun. According to News 3 LV, Station Casinos has submitted an application for a significant 152,000 square foot expansion. The planned growth includes a number of amenities such as a movie theater, bowling alley, full-service restaurant and billiards area.
Future expansion isn’t the only development on the horizon for the resort. The Durango Casino is currently working on expanding its gaming area and building a new parking area for guests. “These additions are intended to complement the resort’s existing offerings and provide guests with a broader range of entertainment and dining options,” states the application filed with Clark County. This move aims to bring Durango in line with other Station Casinos properties such as Red Rock Casino and Green Valley Ranch, which also offer similar recreational opportunities, as described by News 3 LV.
The proposal, which sets the design for this recreational paradise, will be considered by the Clark County Zoning Commission on October 22nd. As outlined in county documents reported by 8 News Now, the master plan calls for an entertainment landscape spanning the ground floor and a mezzanine level, including additional spaces for entertainment, dining and casino-integrated activities.
Station Casinos seems confident in the integration of the project into the existing infrastructure. “The proposed changes are consistent with existing needs and are not expected to have a negative impact on traffic, parking, public amenities or the surrounding neighborhood,” a representative stated in the county document, assuring that the adjustments will not only improve current vehicle traffic, but also strengthen future phases of development. Parking issues are also being addressed, as the resort is already working on a new parking garage with nearly 6,000 spaces, according to 8 News Now.
Although the expansion vision is clear, Station Casinos is keeping its cards closet and declined to comment on an 8 News Now request regarding the expansion. Still, Durango Casino & Resort’s plans indicate an unwavering commitment to transforming the southwest Las Vegas skyline into a more integrated, family-oriented entertainment destination.
