Austin Metz has been hired by The Holland Sentinel to cover business and development.

A story on the Sentinel website states, “Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Metz is a graduate of Grand Valley State University. He spent two years as editor of The Collegiate at GRCC before working as associate editor of The Lanthorn. He started at The Sentinel as a freelancer in 2016 before working at the paper full-time for nearly two years, then returning as a freelancer in 2022.

“While he was away, Metz created an online mental health resource called West Michigan Mental Health.

“This week will be his first back in a full-time capacity.

“‘Austin was my predecessor and now I’m his,’ said local editor and former business reporter Cassandra Lybrink. ‘I can’t properly put into words how excited we are to have him back. Holland business owners and readers will benefit greatly from his keen eye for trends and developments, and his genuine interest in the local community.’”
