Mesquite Entertainment is embarking on a hiring drive this week, attempting to hire more than 100 new employees in a single day as the company ramps up staffing for new restaurants at its Mesquite casinos. The push covers almost every area of casino operations, from reception to kitchen to security.

Job fair details

The one-day event will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Virgin River Event Center, 100 E Pioneer Blvd, and will feature on-site interviews for more than 100 openings at the company’s Mesquite properties. According to FOX5 Las Vegas, roles include front-of-house and back-of-house positions, management, security, maintenance, housekeeping, retail and guest services, as well as hiring for Burger King, 88 Seats, Jersey Joe’s Diner, Pei Wei and other new locations.

How to apply

Organizers encourage applicants to get a head start by applying online through Mesquite Entertainment’s careers site and then showing up with an updated resume for same-day interviews. The company notes that eligible employees will receive competitive pay, training, paid time off and access to a 401(k) plan.

Local labor market

The timing is no coincidence. Nevada’s unemployment rate is about 5.3%, compared to about 4.3% nationally, so there are still a significant number of job seekers. As News 3 Las Vegas reports, organizers expect the fair to help fill both seasonal and permanent positions as Mesquite’s dining scene continues to grow.

What to expect

Job seekers should be prepared like they would for a same-day interview: bring multiple copies of your resume, dress for an interview, and keep your schedule flexible. Hiring managers plan to conduct on-site interviews and can respond quickly to make offers. FOX5 Las Vegas also notes that the company is offering free meals during shifts and other perks as part of its efforts to attract workers.

Why it matters

For Mesquite, a city that relies heavily on tourism and gambling, filling these positions is critical to keeping restaurants, hotels and casinos running smoothly as visitor numbers increase. Mesquite Entertainment counts Virgin River and CasaBlanca among its properties, and this increase in hiring signals that the company is preparing its workforce for a busier season.
