An old-school restaurant and bar north of Boston, known in part for its steak tips, is closed, and its future is in the air at this point.
According to a source, Papa’s Bar & Grille in Malden has been closing, at least for the time being, as apparently health / medical issues from someone involved with the Highland Avenue spot are at least one of the causes. Our source also states that the building is now being renovated as the restaurant is closed, although it is not yet known whether Papa’s will be able to reopen at some point. A poster in the Friends of Boston’s Hidden Restaurants last month told us for the first time that Papa’s may be closed, but no other information has been given in the past few weeks.
Papa’s Bar & Grille opened in 1994 and serves American and Italian-American classics such as clam soup, steak and turkey tips, wings, burgers, chicken parmigiana, meatball subs, Italian sausage, chicken marsala, ravioli, shrimp scampi and baked scrod .
Papa’s Bar & Grille is located at 208 Highland Avenue, Malden, MA, 02148.
