It’s the end of an era – almost. According to Eater Boston and the Boston Globe, Barbara Lynch will close the last three restaurants in their once-mighty mini-empire. The James Beard Award-winning chef and her team made the announcement via Instagram, citing post-pandemic challenges and lifestyle changes The rudderwhich opened in Gloucester’s Rocky Neck area in 2023, has already permanently closed. Lynch’s flagship Beacon Hill, No. 9 Parkwhich opened to great success in 1998, will close at the end of the year. B&G oysters will remain in operation until the group finds a suitable agreement for the sale.
This means you have a few months to say goodbye. You can reserve a table at #9 to retry your favorite dishes (plum-stuffed gnocchi, anyone?) and relive your favorite traditions (see more information about the holiday lunch here). Or make a reservation at B&G to keep your fill of lobster rolls and freshly shucked oysters for as long as possible. Wherever you end up, you can toast these iconic spots that have defined Boston’s dining scene for decades.
